Vincent (Vinny) Michael Steeves, age 69, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, November 29, 2025, after a several month battle with lung cancer. He was born March 4, 1956, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, but spent most of his youth in Burlington, Vermont, and then his High School and later years in Waukesha.
Vinny graduated from Waukesha South High School and briefly attended Marquette University. Over the years he held various jobs in the Waukesha area, and volunteered for the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI). Vinny loved gardening, camping and fishing, and spending time with his family and his network of friends in Waukesha. He was an excellent driver, and was always willing to chauffer family members and friends to appointments and events. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Waukesha.
Vinny was preceded in death by his father, Frank Leslie Steeves, and a brother Clement Jerome Steeves.
Vinny is survived by his mother, Louise Patriarca Steeves, his brother Frank Lloyd Steeves, his sister Helen Leslie Steeves, his nieces Carolyn Steeves Powers, Fekerte Reece-Steeves, and Anna Steeves-Reece, and his nephew Andrew Vincent Steeves, as well as his brother-in-law, Daniel Reece, a grandniece Amina Brown and two grandnephews, Conner and Theodore Steeves. He also leaves many other extended family members and friends, who will sadly miss him.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church (818 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186) beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:00 PM, followed immediately by the Funeral Memorial Mass. Inurnment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park (13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI 53005) at approximately 1:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Vinny’s name be made to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Southeast Wisconsin Chapter: https://namisoutheastwi.org.
