Judith Ann (Mildenberger) Keenan
April 20, 1940 – December 5, 2025
Judith Ann (Mildenberger) Keenan passed away in Bluffton, South Carolina, after a period of declining health, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and creativity. Born on April 20, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Judy cultivated a life rich with experiences, grounded in devotion to her family and flavored by her many passions.
She was the daughter of the late John Harry and Florence Mildenberger of Arbutus, Maryland. Judy was preceded in death by her husband George W. Keenan, who passed on March 14, 2020, and by her sister, Carolyn Miller.
Judy is survived by her children George Michael Keenan, Samuel Keenan and his wife Stephanie, and Tamara (Keenan) McGaunn and her husband Jon McGaunn; and by her beloved grandchildren Christopher, Connor, JP, Sean, and Hannah. She was a daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she filled each of those roles with warmth, humor, and heart.
Judy believed that life was meant to be an adventure. At the age of 21 she left home and moved to Japan, where she met George, and together their lifelong journey began. She embraced new places, new foods, and new experiences with an open spirit and a sense of curiosity that never faded.
She found serenity on the golf course and spent 25 cherished years as a member of Quail Valley Golf Club, forming friendships that brought her tremendous joy. Judy had a deep love for art including drawing and painting along with reading, antiques, and collecting. She kept every card she ever received, a reflection of her sentimental heart and appreciation for the people in her life.
She enjoyed good food, bingo nights, and scratch off tickets, and she loved being outdoors soaking in fresh air and sunshine. Judy worked in the Howard County Public School System where she adored her role and the many colleagues and students she encountered along the way.
Above all, Judy loved her family and friends. She was grateful for the simple pleasures each day brought, and she found beauty in moments both big and small.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. The family will hold an interment service in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, where Judy will be laid to rest beside her husband George. The date will be determined.
Her adventurous spirit, her loyalty, and her love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
