Thomas J. Townsend, 87, of Palm Bay, FL passed away on November 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife Ede Townsend, who he loved and missed dearly.   

Born in 1938, Tom came from an era where men were raised to always be tough. And he was - or at least appeared to be. He joined the Army at 17, with a permission slip from his mother. While serving as an MP in Germany, he made many friends and left with great stories to tell. 

Tom was stubborn, sarcastic, and sharp, with the type of work ethic you don’t see much anymore. He was also generous, kind-hearted, and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. 

He had five daughters - Pam (Kevin), Pat (Pete), Penny (Rich), Toni (Matt), and Teri. He loved them dearly, but had a strict one-hour limit before he needed silence and a beer. He also had a soft spot, in the form of his 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, who were always perfect angels to him, no matter what chaos they were creating. 

Tom’s other favorite family member was Ella, his dog. He would say he didn’t like her, but you could see the love with every treat given and every pet on her head. 

We loved him, he loved us, and we are pretty sure he is enjoying a cold Coors Light, and spending time with the people he’s been missing.
