Carl “Butch” McReynolds, 75, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away on the evening of Sunday, December 7, 2025.
Carl was born on January 14, 1950, in Emmett, Idaho, to Carl McReynolds and Mary McReynolds. He spent his childhood between Grangeville and Horseshoebend, Idaho, where he developed a love for the outdoors that would stay with him throughout his life.
On September 18, 1971, Carl married the love of his life, Kay, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Together, they began their life’s journey, living in several towns before eventually settling in the Treasure Valley. There, they raised their three children–Marty, Melody, and Nate–and built a strong and loving family foundation.
Carl was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent 19 years with Simplot, eventually becoming a mill manager. Later, he partnered with his son, Marty, at Big Pine Construction before retiring. For the last fourteen years, Carl and Kay have enjoyed their winters as snowbirds in Wellton, Arizona, creating cherished memories and friendships.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl McReynolds and Mary Rose McReynolds, his brothers Clyde, Marvin, Dale, Gary, Keith, Steve, and Clarence, and his sister Violet Farsen.
He is survived by his devoted wife Kay McReynolds; his children Marty (Shellee) McReynolds, Melody (Jeremie) Wise, Nathan McReynolds, and his bonus daughter Sarah Johnson. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Hillary (Jordan) Newbry, Hailee Stotts, Holly McReynolds, Savanah Smedick, and Hunter McReynolds, along with two bonus grandchildren Mikaela Johnson and Cameron Johnson, one great-grandson on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl lived a life full of quiet passions and simple joys. He loved playing poker weekly with his son and friends. He had a talent for creating customized wood projects and enjoyed mining, hunting, and fishing. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and happiness in the mountains and especially treasured his trips to Alaska.
Though a man of few words, Carl was known for his sense of humor and infectious laugh, his steady presence, deep devotion to his wife, and unwavering love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
