Joseph “Joe” Bruce Warmuth, 78, passed away surrounded by love and family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend, Joe lived a life rooted in kindness, quiet humor, and an unwavering appreciation for the world around him.
Joe and his wife, Sandy, shared nearly 35 wonderful years together after marrying in 1990. True snowbirds at heart, they made their home between Arizona and Iowa, embracing the best of both landscapes and the communities they cherished.
Joe retired from John Deere on August 1, 2005, after almost 30 dedicated years of service. His work ethic was steady, reliable, and true—much like the man himself.
A Vietnam veteran, Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army. His sense of duty and strength carried with him throughout his life.
Joe found joy in the simple things: hunting, fishing, and observing wildlife. His love for animals was remarkable—he famously cared for an injured blackbird that continued to visit him for nearly four years and regularly fed a lizard who would boldly come right up to the door for its meals. Joe and Sandy also shared their home with a gentle Maine Coon cat over the years, which he absolutely adored. Joe also had a passion for plants and flowers, he loved the beauty of them, this was one of the reasons him and Sandy moved near the golf course, to enjoy the scenery.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Kathryn Warmuth, and his brother, Jack Warmuth.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Warmuth; daughters Tonya Warmuth and Kristine Bishop; step-sons Scott (Jennifer) Holman and Shawn (Gina) Holman; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Linda (Todd) Calloway, Cindy (Stan) Spence, and Craig (Tammy) Warmuth, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to the Arizona Humane Society, Attn: Development Department, 1521 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041—an organization that reflects his lifelong love for animals.
