Jean Alma (Nutt) Campbell died peacefully at home in Cocoa Beach, FL, on December 6, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on January 15, 1935 in Newburgh, NY, she was the eldest daughter of Alma (Blomquist) Nutt and Roger M. Nutt. She was the widow of Curmitt C. Campbell, her loving husband for 52 years.
For many years before moving to Florida in 1978, Jean and Curmitt were owner operators of Campbell’s Office Equipment in Walden, NY; upon moving to Florida, they opened Campbell’s Business Machines servicing customers in Brevard County until Curmitt’s death in 2006.
Jean volunteered her time in many ways, holding offices as Treasurer and Historian of Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 210, working in the library at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center and assisting at the Cocoa Beach Community Church Thrift Shop. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, widow member of BPO Elks and life member of VFW Auxiliary.
Jean is survived by her son, Douglas (Kathy) Campbell of Walden, NY; daughters, Diane (John) Myers of Merritt Island, FL, and Deborah (Wayne) Dull of Advance, NC; grandchildren Pamela (Matthew) Leckel of Merritt Island, FL; David (Anne) Campbell of Wallkill, NY; Amy Miller of Elgin, SC; Steven (Oksana) of Chesapeake, VA; Scott Campbell and Timothy Swonger of Lexington, NC; step-grandchildren Megan (Jeremy) Smit; Kara Lacy; Sean (Joanna) Lacy; Ryan (Katie) Lacy; Justin Dull and Ryan Dull of Pinnacle, NC and 11 great-grandchildren.
With her kind heart and love for animals, she adopted various cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and even a guinea pig when one of her children (you know who you are) brought them home. She enjoyed a good story, traditional country music and old tv shows, especially westerns. Jean’s tenacity gave new meaning to the term “iron will” and she was fiercely independent. All who knew her will miss her friendship, loyalty, unwavering support and most of all the sparkle she’d get in her eyes when she found something funny.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 2 pm – 4 pm at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. Interment will be on December 16, 2025, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
