Raymond Cletus Doerfler, 97, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in Sun City Center, Florida. Born in Portland, Oregon, on April 18, 1928, to George and Theresa Doerfler, Raymond’s faith was shaped early by the guiding influence of his great-uncle, Fr. Gregory Robl, whose example remained a steady compass throughout his life. He married the love of his life, Marie, on August 18, 1951, and together they shared more than sixty years of devotion until her passing in 2012.

Raymond proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II stationed in Korea. After returning home, he used the GI Bill to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Portland, beginning a distinguished career in the logistics and transportation industry. Rising to the executive level, he specialized in national and local collective bargaining negotiations and agreements, earning respect for his fairness, good judgment, and steady leadership.

In retirement, Ray and Marie embraced the pleasures of travel, enjoyed golf and bridge, and were active in their community’s dance club, where Raymond later served as president. In his later years, he treasured time with family, delighted in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and could always be found cheering on his favorite football teams.

Raymond also served his community with quiet generosity. He supported Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the Security Patrol, the Emergency Squad, Samaritan Services, and other local organizations that helped strengthen the community he loved.

He is survived by his children Kathleen, Paul, and Peter; grandchildren Aaron, Andrew, Steven, and Nicholas; and great-grandchildren Harrison and Adelyn. Raymond’s life was marked by faith, family, service, and integrity. He leaves behind a legacy of love, gratitude, and steadfast devotion that will be cherished always.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at 6:30 p.m. on December 18, 2025. The Rites of Committal with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on December 19, 2025.
