Francine, age 75, passed away on December 5, 2025. She will be remembered for her curiosity, her love of nature, and the joy she found in both the everyday and the extraordinary.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she cherished childhood trips to visit cousins in Virginia, a place she later returned to and held dear throughout her life. A trail-blazer in her field, she earned her PhD from the University of Delaware and built a distinguished career as a human factors psychologist.
Her personal passions were wide-ranging. She enjoyed gardening, loved bird watching, and found peace walking through the Mequon Nature Preserve in Wisconsin. She delighted in her mahjong group and her genealogy research. She loved movies and current pop culture and followed British royalty with great interest. France held a special place in her heart, and she traveled there often, embraced “country French” style, and spoke multiple languages with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Francine is survived by her daughters, Deanna (Ignacio) and Jessica, and her grandchildren, Elizabeth and David Xavier.
To honor her memory, donations may be made to the Mequon Nature Preserve, a place she loved deeply: Donate - Mequon Nature Preserve
