Jo Anne Laughlin, born January 19, 1939, in Ada, Oklahoma, passed peacefully from this life on December 5, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, where she had resided for the past 65 years. She leaves behind a legacy grounded in faith, love, and unwavering devotion to God and her family.
On June 26, 1958, Jo Anne married Jimmy D. Laughlin. With the Lord’s help she built a home filled with warmth, faith, and dedication. She was blessed with two daughters: Jeanice Smith, born February 24, 1959, and Connie Wallis, born March 27, 1964.
Jo Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is lovingly survived by her three grandchildren and their spouses—Todd and Brittany Smith, Tara and Matt Stevenson, Alex and Rita Wallis—and by her eight great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life: Makai, Mason, and Mckinley Smith, and Abigail, April, Ariana, Ainsley, and Aubrey Stevenson. She also had her brother and sister in-law Jerry and Ellene Meek by her side to the very end and leaves behind two nieces, two great nieces, two great nephews, and their seven great-great nieces/nephews with two more on the way. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she poured her heart into every generation.
One of the most defining moments of Jo Anne’s life came on April 22, 1973, when she gave her life to the Lord. She was Saved, Sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost in that Easter service. From that day forward, her faith became her foundation—guiding her steps, shaping her home, and offering strength to all who knew her. She lived out her beliefs with sincerity and kindness, touching countless lives through her gentle spirit and steadfast trust in God. Over the years she faithfully served in many roles: leading the local church’s women’s ministry, teaching Sunday School, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, teaching at church camps, and, as many lovingly recall, preaching in her later years.
Jo Anne will be remembered for her warmth, her resilience, and the love she so freely shared. Her influence endures in the lives of all who were blessed to know her, feel her prayers, receive her kindness, and witness a woman who truly lived what she taught—faithfully, joyfully, and to the very end.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
