Stanley Hallberg Jr.

June 22, 1938 - December 7, 2025

Stanley Hallberg Jr., age 87, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully on December 7th, 2025 at Sandhill Gardens Retirement Residence in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Stanley graduated from Grant High School in Grant, Michigan.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of E-3 before his honorable discharge.  His love of flying continued as he later went on to get his pilot’s license and loved taking family and friends for rides.  He also dedicated 55 years to the International Union of Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator.  Stanley loved riding his various Harley and Indian motorcycles, where along his many journeys he easily made life-long friends.  Most of the time, he was seen wearing his bandana that held back his long silver hair.  Stanley loved living in Florida and didn’t miss the cold winters in Michigan.  He spent many hours visiting with friends at the Moose Lodge in Punta Gorda and the AmVets in Arcadia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Jeannette Hallberg, his brother John Hallberg, sister-in-laws Rita Hallberg and Judy Hallberg; and loving companion Jane Rockwell.

Stanley is survived by his brothers; Robert Hallberg of Newaygo, Michigan and Tom (Bev) Hallberg of Casnovia, Michigan.  Along with his close nephew and caregiver Daniel (Bette) Hallberg of Newaygo, Michigan.  He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews that often referred to him as “Uncle Snookie”, along with his many great nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and his countless friends in Michigan and Florida.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the loving care that he was provided for the last 3 years at Sandhill Gardens. The staff loved him and will miss his happy disposition.

Respecting Stanley’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service and he will be placed to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery for Military Veterans in Sarasota, Florida.
