Christine was born on July 11, 1928 in a home on a farm in Plavnica, Czechoslovakia.
She was the youngest of 5- 2 sisters-Rose and Pavlina and 2 brothers- Steve and Andrew.
Christine left Czechoslovakia when she was 19 and came to the United States to be with her sister and brothers and arrived in New York City aboard The Queen Mary on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1947.
Settling in Brooklyn, New York she met and married Edward Sankner. They raised 4 children- 2 girls- Jeanette and Linda and 2 boys- Robert and Gerald.
Once the kids were grown, Chris and Ed enjoyed taking vacations to Florida.
She also began working for Morgan Guaranty in New York City where she retired when she was 60. Two years later Ed passed away.
Chris has been on her own since then and was living in the same apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn for 68 years.
She had the companionship of many friends and family including her 2 grandsons- Austin and Mitchell.
She moved from Brooklyn, New York to A Banyan Residence in May 2022 where she enjoyed the Florida sun for 3 1/2 years.
Chris passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 97 years old.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 3:00-430pm at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida.
