On December 29 at 10:30am PST, we will gather to celebrate the life of Velda Frittmann, who was born on July 16, 1941 and called home on December 2, 2025.

Velda’s life was rich with adventure, joy, and love. As a young girl, she delighted in fishing, modeling, and even the thrill of drag racing. Her spirit was bold and full of curiosity, and that sense of adventure carried her throughout her life. With her beloved husband Otto, Velda traveled across Europe, learning more about his childhood and deepening their bond. Together, they explored the United States as well, savoring experiences both grand and simple—like Wisconsin cheese and fresh Maine lobster. Velda and Otto shared many memorable years together, built on deep commitment and daily acts of love and kindness.

Velda embraced her family and friends in both joy and sorrow. In Velda’s presence, no one ever cried alone. She lovingly doted on Otto and worked tirelessly to bring the family together whenever she could. And with her remarkable memory and dedication, she never forgot a birthday—reminding each of us that we were special and loved. She was a woman of intelligence, generosity, spirituality, and compassion. Her humor often arrived unexpectedly, bringing lightness and laughter when it was most needed. She found joy in life’s most simple treasures, whether traveling abroad, engaging with her local Avon lady, or browsing a local yard sale, she always delighted in meeting her neighbors and stumbling upon forgotten keepsakes, heartfelt conversations, and the serendipitous moments that stitched together the fabric of her community.

As a young mother, Velda loved planning fun outings with her children like beach days, picnics, birthday parties, and slumber parties. She created countless Halloween costumes and hosted myriad playdates- all without the help of the internet and cell phones! Christmastime was always a special time for Velda because it meant piling the kids in the station wagon for a drive around the neighborhood to bask in the glow of holiday lights and indulge in hot chocolate and sweets. Throughout their school years, she nurtured their creativity by reading with them, teaching them how to cook, and creating various arts and crafts projects. As the children grew up and her and Otto became empty nesters, her love for family remained strong and unwavering. She cheered proudly for her granddaughter, Jianna, during every basketball game and stayed closely connected with her grandson Jared and his wife Heather. She stayed updated on Jared’s overseas deployments, raised funds during Heather’s cancer battle, and showered her great grandchildren, Drew and Jonah, with gifts for birthdays and holidays. She also stayed connected with her grandson Dailon and his wife Erin, delighting in the photos they shared and taking pride in her great‑granddaughters Kylie's and Lahna's, accomplishments in softball.

Velda leaves behind her devoted husband, Otto; her brother, Ken; her son, Jon; her daughters, Debbie, Jaimi, Monica, and Susan; her grandchildren Brandon, Dailon, Jared, and Jianna; and her great grandchildren, Drew, Jonah, Kylie and Lahna. Each of them will continue to carry her loving memory in their hearts.

Velda’s legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and devotion. She showed us how to live fully, love deeply, and care for one another without hesitation. Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate the gift of her life and the lasting imprint she leaves on all of us.

As the prophet Isaiah reminds us: “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your soul in drought and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”

May we honor Velda’s memory by carrying forward her spirit of compassion, humor, and love, and may her light continue to shine in each of us.
