Harry Kantarze, aged 89, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025.
Harry was born on September 30, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, and resided in Gilbert, Arizona for the past 38 years.
A patriot at heart, Harry proudly served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He spent his life loving and honoring his country, truly an American at his core. He later opened Kantarze Painting Service, where he worked diligently until retiring at the age of 80.
Harry devoted much of his life to his faith and his community. He served as past Parish Council President of Saint John Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown, Ohio and Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Chandler, Arizona was part of the team that helped build Saint Katherine as it stands today. He was a proud member of the Order of AHEPA and cherished his time at the annual Greek Festival, where he was affectionately crowned “King of the Lamb Shanks.” Harry was always a proud Greek.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Tula Kantarze; his three children, Khrys (Deb) Kantarze, Alexander Kantarze, and Kelly (Michael) Zoldak; his two granddaughters, Alexis Kantarze and Renee Kantarze; and his two great-grandchildren, Makayla Kantarze and Nicolai Kantarze. He was preceded in death by his parents Alexander Kantarze and Kleoniki Haholos; his brothers, James (Jimmy) Kantarze and George Kantarze; and his sister, Christine (Kantarze) Theodosiou.
Harry’s legacy will be remembered through the pride he carried in everything he did, his unwavering love for his country, and his devotion to family. May his memory be eternal.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church 2716 N Dobson Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224. AHEPA service begins at 8:45am with calling hours to follow. Funeral service begins at 10:30am with the Makaria to follow in the church community center.
