Lucy Nicks passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 21st 2025. She was 98 years old. Lucy was born in Browndale, PA on November 23, 1927 to Mary and Anthony Nunes. Lucy married the love of her life John on September 9, 1950. They moved to Stony Point where they raised their four children. Lucy worked in the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department serving under three sheriffs for over twenty years.  Lucy was an active member of the Stony Point Seniors Citizen’s Club, supporting her husband of over 60 years as a Stony Point Fire Department Wayne Hose Member and she was actively involved in all the organizations and clubs her children participated in.

Her greatest joy was supporting her four children, five grandchildren and nine great-children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lucy is survived by her four children John (Cathy), Thomas (Terri), Nancy and George (Joyce). She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Stacy, Melissa, John & Jennifer and nine great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Tyler, Emily, Addison, Natalie, John, Amelia & Salvatore. Lucy was pre-deceased by her husband John, parents Mary & Anthony & grandson George.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28th from 2-6 p.m. at T.J. McGowans Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway,  Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 29th at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Stony Point, NY, followed by internment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
