Karen L. Vaughn, 83, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at home on December 3, 2025, after bravely battling several health conditions.

Karen devoted her life to her family, supporting them in every way she could. She and Connie spent many years building Vaughn Excavating and later Vaughn Trucking, where she served as office manager and bookkeeper alongside, Connie. She was the steady heart behind the family business.

She found joy in tending her flower gardens, camping, and spending time with those she loved. She took great pride in building strong relationships with family and friends. Karen was known for her quiet strength, dedication, and deep love for her family.

Born Karen Lavonne McCrary in Missouri, she married the love of her life, Conrad Vaughn, on June 19, 1959. Together they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and faith.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Ann McCrary of Gallatin, Missouri, and her sister, Sherry (Ray) Carder of Gallatin.

She is survived by her loving husband, Conrad Vaughn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her brother, Loran (Sharon) McCrary of Columbia, Missouri; her sister, Joyce (Bill) Hudson of Hamilton, Missouri; and her sister-in-law, Jewel (Sam) Swofford of Denver, Colorado.

She is also survived by her children, Steve (Lisa) Vaughn of Colorado and Shelly (Jeff) Early of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Matthew (Yuri) Early of Washington, Megan Early of Tennessee, Becca (JR) Gonzalas of Colorado, Andrew (Eva) Vaughn of Kentucky, and Daniel (Faith) Vaughn of Texas; and her eight great-grandchildren.

Additionally, she is survived by her step-grandchildren, Claire (Steve) Schroeder, Brooke (Andrew) McKenzie, and Emily (Chris) Watson, along with six step-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Karen was a devoted Christian and faithfully enjoyed Church on the Ranch.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Church on the Ranch, 3685 Jeannine Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception.

Additional plans are underway for a memorial service to be held in Karen’s honor this spring in Gallatin, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Church on the Ranch in Karen’s memory.
