Ralph Edward Daniel 7/21/36-12/20/25

Ralph Edward Daniel passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at his home in Tampa, Florida. His loving wife, Shirley, was right by his side.

Ralph was born in Oneida Tennessee, and lived in several states before settling in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he and his wife, Shirley, spent over 50 wonderful years. Ralph and Shirley married in 1957, and were totally devoted to each other for over 67 years.

Ralph is survived by Shirley, two daughters, Debra and Patty, and two grandsons, Erik and Gavin. Ralph was an amazing man who managed to live a fulfilled life.   

Though blind for over 40 years, Ralph never allowed his limitations to define him. He traveled, tried snow skiing, fishing, bowling, putt-putt golf, and many other activities.  He always had a positive attitude and tried to make the best of his situation. Shirley was always right by his side, helping him to make the best of this life. Ralph enjoyed the years he spent volunteering at local elementary schools, helping young children to read and work on mathematical skills. He was honored with the “To Those Who Care” award for his countless hours of volunteering.

 Ralph was also an avid reader. He loved listening to books on tape, accumulating over 7000 read books in his library.

Ralph also enjoyed listening to music with the help of his Alexa. Some of his favorite songs include “Take Me Home Country Road,” “I’m No Stranger to the Rain,” and “I’ll Fly Away.” Ralph will be remembered for his humor, determination and optimism in the face of life’s challenges, as well as his dedication to his family.
