Carole Marie Davis, 72, passed away on December 21, 2025, after a hard-fought eight-year battle with cancer. Carole was born on December 16, 1953, in North Java, New York. She was the youngest of four children born to Harold Almeter and Marcella (George) Almeter.

Carole was raised on a small dairy farm in North Java and educated in local Catholic diocesan schools. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and then went on to earn both her BBA and MBA from Canisius University in Buffalo, New York. From there, she began her career as an accountant with the Sylvania Consumer Electronics Division in Rochester, New York.

Through her work, she was relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee. It was there that she met her husband of 39 years, Patrick Anthony Davis. After their marriage in November 1986, she relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. There, she had two children, Shannon Marie Davis and Jonathan Patrick (JP) Davis, while also helping raise her stepson, Christopher Shane Davis.

Carole and her family moved from Nashville to Singapore in 1993 for a couple of years for her husband’s work. From there, they relocated to Montreal, Canada, again for a couple of years, and then on to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they lived for 17 years—giving their two youngest children the opportunity to complete their education. In 2011, her husband was offered a move to San Jose, California, and Carole once again picked up and relocated. After her husband’s retirement in 2019, they returned to North Carolina, settling in Charlotte to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Throughout these many moves, Carole remained a devoted mother to her three children while also building a long and varied career. She earned her real estate license and worked as a financial controller for several nonprofit organizations as well as a small tech startup. Even while balancing work and family life, she made time for her favorite pastime—tennis. After retiring from her career, she embraced a change of pace and spent several years restocking her kitchen while working as a sales associate at Sur La Table.

Carole was gracious, loving, and fun to be around. She was well traveled, with extensive trips throughout the United States and across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Early in life, she developed a love for scuba diving with her husband, and many of their travels involved going somewhere warm, sandy, and full of underwater sights to explore.

As a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, Carole placed tremendous focus on her family. This included babysitting her grandchildren whenever possible, bringing her family together every Sunday for a shared meal, and supporting her children and grandchildren through each changing phase of life. Everyone knew that a visit to Gigi's house meant Twizzlers would be waiting as soon as they walked in the door.

Carole had an extensive network of friends and family who supported her throughout her life. She was a gracious hostess and found any reason to gather with those she loved. They were also a great comfort to her during her courageous battle with cancer.

Carole was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Patrick; her three children—son Christopher Davis and his wife, Marnie, of Bozeman, Montana; daughter Shannon Bhathela and her husband, Kavel; and son JP Davis and his wife, Stefanie. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tenyung Lee, Mason Bhathela, Davis Bhathela, Miles Bhathela and Grayson Davis. She is further survived by her brother John Almeter and his wife, Carol, of Atlanta; her sister Marcia Ball and her husband, Dave, of Gahanna, Ohio; and her brother Tom Almeter and his wife, Vickie, of Concord, North Carolina, as well as a host of nieces and nephews: Shane and Julie Ball and their family of five children; Eric Ball; Lisa and Jordan Duguid and their family of four children; Luke Ball; Cristin and Eddie Fleming; Michael Almeter; Alex Almeter; and Jackie Almeter.

A Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Further details will be provided to friends and family in early 2026.

Carole requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be considered to Catholic Charities (CRS.org) or Second Harvest Metrolina Food Bank (secondharvestmetrolina.org), both of which were dear to her heart.
