Minister/Major Walter Woods age, 56 was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Evita of 34 years, dad to his two daughters Tiera & Torrie, son to his mother, Miriam, grandpa (Papa) to Jeremiah, a friend to many and a true man of God. He passed away on December 17, 2025, surrounded by close family and friends. He was born in Marion, South Carolina on October 24, 1969. Walter was the only child of the late Walter Woods, Sr and Miriam S. Woods.

He is survived by his wife, Evita Woods, daughters, Tiera and Torrie Woods, grandson Jeremiah and mother, Miriam Woods. He also leaves to cherish his memories three aunts, two uncles, a mother-in-law, and a huge host of family and friends.

Minister Woods attended and graduated from Marion High School in 1987. He later graduated from Columbia Southern University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management.

Some of his enjoyments in life included traveling, grilling, watching the gamecock’s football, making people laugh, and sharing the gospel while praising and serving God.

Major Woods joined the Air Force National Guard in 1995 and served 27 distinguished years in the military while rising in the ranks from a junior enlisted soldier to a senior officer. During this time, he had three deployments to include an assignment in Kuwait in 2002 in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom. Throughout his distinguished career, he wore many hats at McEntire Joint National Guard base to include 1st Sergeant, Environmental Manager, and Health Service Administrator.

After retirement in December 2022, Walt turned his focus to growing his personal business, (WAB Environmental & Occupational Health Services). WAB specializes in providing a variety of environmental, occupational health and safety services to help clients meet regulatory requirements.

Due to his hard work throughout his career and lifetime, Major Woods received several honors, certificates, recognition, and distinguished awards.

However, his greatest accomplishment and reward was when he surrendered his life to Christ. Minister Woods served diligently and wholeheartedly wherever the Lord led him to serve. He preached the gospel, taught and lived the word, mentored others and was a friend that stuck closer than a brother.
