Georgiann Eileen Errigo
1943 - 2025
A Petite Person With A Big Presence
Born on March 15, 1943 in Bound Brook, New Jersey. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Carmel Buratti of Dunellen, NJ and Port Charlotte, FL; and her brother, John Buratti. Survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph Errigo; son, John Joseph Errigo (Becky); daughter, Kimberly Anne Errigo; and grandsons Nico Joseph Errigo and Ryan John Errigo. She spent her final six months in home hospice care and died on Christmas Eve, surrounded by her family.
Throughout her life, Georgiann always put family first. She cared deeply about all people, living creatures, and the natural world. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Catholic University, 1965), and a Master’s Degree in Public Health (University of Minnesota, 1985). She served on the Board of Directors for the University’s Public Health Nursing Program and as Representative to the University’s Board of Regents. Georgiann founded two nonprofit organizations which focused on elder health, and served on the Board of Directors for Community Health Services for Saint Paul and Ramsey County.
In 1981, the family purchased a small farm in Western Wisconsin, their go-to place for the next forty years. Georgiann led the way in caring for a dog, several cats, and three horses. She loved riding horses through the woods and around the lake. The farm was her happy place. She earned a Master Gardener Certification and created magnificent gardens at the farm and her homes in Saint Paul and West Saint Paul. In 2024, she received an award from the City of West Saint Paul for her spectacular front-yard garden.
Georgiann always worked to make her community a better place. She was an active member of the Minnesota Horticultural Society and the Saint Paul League of Women Voters. She served on the Board of the Mississippi Market Cooperative. Georgiann was a longtime volunteer at Saint Paul’s Como Park Conservatory and the University of Minnesota Master Gardener Program, where she was designated an Emeritus Volunteer in 2015.
Georgiann was passionate about restoring her family’s historic homes, first a 1902 Victorian in Saint Paul and then a 1910 Sears Mail Order farm house in Wisconsin. She did the same for a not-so-historic home (1977) in West Saint Paul.
Georgiann struggled with cancer for over 25 years, including breast cancer in 1999, lung cancer in 2011, and liver cancer in 2022. Throughout her health challenges, she was brave and determined. A special thanks to all of the top notch professionals at Allina Hospice Care who make that such an important resource for our community.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The University Club, 420 Summit Avenue in Saint Paul, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 - exactly 59 years since Joe and Georgiann’s marriage on a rainy day in Dunellen, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Como Park Conservatory in Saint Paul.
