Miles Anthony Joanen, Jr., affectionately known as Tony, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, in Olympia, Washington.
Tony was born on January 25, 1946, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Miles Joanen, Sr. and Gertrude O’Rourke. He carried his roots with pride throughout his life, along with a deep love for family, service, and simple joys.
A proud United States Marine, Tony embodied strength, and resilience. He was a man of many interests and an unmistakable character — known for his love of gardening, live music, and the way he could bring a room to life with his presence. Those who knew him best will remember his humor, his spirit, and the way he lived life on his own terms.
Tony leaves behind a legacy in his beloved children: Courtney (Garrett), Lauren (Farbod), Michelle, and Mikey (Layce). He was a proud grandfather to Hailey, Caiden, Madison, Cyrus, Zachary, Jacob, Kennedy, and Mason.
A military service with honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Tony will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
