James Henry "Jim" Glen, Jr., born November 24, 1941, in Sautee, Georgia, passed away on December 23rd, 2025, at the age of 84.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Terry, and their children Doug Glen, Julia Dwight, and Janie Gotherman, and their son-in-laws Shaw Dwight and Eddie Gotherman. He was a devoted grandfather to Penny and Catherine. He was predeceased by his son, Henry.
A proud graduate of North Georgia College and the Army War College, Jim served his country with distinction in the United States Army on active duty before continuing his service in the Army Reserve, where he retired with the rank of Colonel. He earned his MBA from Georgia State University and built a distinguished career in investment banking, ultimately retiring from Wachovia, formally Interstate/Johnson Lane. In retirement, Jim continued to share his financial expertise by serving on the board of directors of Select Bank in Greenville NC.
A faithful member of Selwyn Presbyterian Church, Jim served as Elder and was very active in the church community. In particular, he valued the great friendships he built in the men’s lunch group.
Committed to community service, Jim was a longstanding member of the York Rite Masonic lodge, where he served in many roles, including Most Excellent Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of North Carolina.
Jim ran the Atlanta Peach Tree Road Race every 4th of July for 30 consecutive years and was an avid beekeeper.
A funeral service honoring Jim’s life will be held on January 10th at 11am at Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place in Sautee, Georgia, at the Methodist Church on January 12th at 11am. Memorials to be made to Nacoochee Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 87 Sautee Nacoochee, GA 30571.
