It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fred W. Watford, who left us peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on August 21, 1935, Fred lived a life rich in love, family, and adventure.
Fred was married to Loyce Levine Watford for an enduring 51 years until her departure. Together, they built a beautiful family. He is survived by his son Joey Watford and his wife Melisa, as well as his daughters Sherry White and Donna Watford. Fred was a proud grandfather to grandchildren Heather St Marie (Jaimie), Amber Ridenhour, Christopher Watford (Amara), Rachel Avery (Daniel), Justin White, and Danielle Johnston. He also cherished his great-grandchildren: Nick, Ben, and Caroline Studley; Julia, Bradley and Olivia Ridenhour; Emarie and Ashton Watford; and Preston, McKynli Avery, Kimberly, Scarlet, Michaela, and Chris Johnston—each of whom brought joy and laughter into his life.
Retiring from Southern Plastic after 30 dedicated years, Fred exemplified commitment and resilience throughout his career. He was a valued member of his community and an active participant at Congaree Baptist Church, where he found solace and camaraderie among the faithful.
Fred enjoyed a variety of interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. In his earlier years, he was passionate about carpentry, boating, and skiing, always seeking new thrills and experiences. As he matured, he took great pleasure in traveling, exploring new horizons, and making lasting memories with family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington, SC. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a man who touched the lives of so many.
