Rhea L Kerr, 91, of Lakewood peacefully passed away on November 28, 2025.
Rhea was born on January 18, 1934, in Denver, Colorado to Eleanor and Jack Hamerlund. From an early age, she was kind, had a naïve sense of humor and cared about others, especially her younger sister Janice. She also had an enduring love and faith in God.
She graduated from North High School and later retired from Mountain Bell where she worked in the corporate tax department. After retiring, Rhea kept busy with Red Hat Lady events, Christian Women’s luncheons and events, and lots of shopping with her sister Janice, who preceded her in death in 2021.
Rhea met her husband Merrill Eugene (Gene) Kerr Jr. at a dance on Lowry Air Force Base where he nudged one of his fellow airmen and said, “That’s the girl I’m going to marry” upon seeing her enter the room. They shared 43 years together enjoying yearly trips to Glenwood Springs on summer breaks with the kids, and later romantic trips to Hawaii, before Merrill preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by her four children, David (Rada) of Indianapolis, IN, Kathleen Lipsie of Loveland CO, Vicki Kerr (Gregg), and Sandra Kerr of Lakewood CO, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends who loved her deeply.
A service to honor her life will be held on April 17, 2026, at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to MaxFund Animal Adoption Center in honor of her beloved companions, Oliver and Ebony and all her previous fur babies.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers, hospice team members, and friends for their support.
