Our sweet Miguelito - Miguel Angel Recalde age 57, who lived with his group home family at the CRI Home in Burke, VA left this world peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Adler Hospice in Aldie, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents, German Recalde and Aida Gamarra Recalde. He is survived by five older siblings: Laura Gillette, Herman Recalde, Elizabeth Showman, Dario Recalde, Edwin Recalde, and numerous family and friends. Miguel also had a very special bond with his uncle José Pardo, aunt Hilda, and cousin Hildi.

 Miguel’s favorite song was Silent Night. His love for this melody began when his sister Laura sang it to him as a lullaby. It became his joy and comfort – a song he requested often and we sang with love every time. Today, as Miguel rests in Heavenly Peace, we imagine, just as the lyrics promise, that All is Calm, All is Bright.

 Miguel was an angel put on this Earth for a time. His gentle spirit and quiet strength touched every heart. Though words were few, his expressions spoke volumes – his smile, his laughter, and the way he made his wishes known were unforgettable. He taught us patience, kindness, and the true meaning of unconditional love. Miguel brought us all love and joy. He was dearly loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We will all miss him dearly and carry his light with us always. 

 Miguel defied disability and lived an inspiring life, never taking no for an answer when he wanted something. He advocated fiercely for himself, smiled from his heart, and loved his family deeply. From dreaming of Ohio to enjoying his Friday McDonald’s treats and playfully teasing his favorite girl, Miguel brought laughter and light wherever he went.  A funeral mass will take place on Friday, January 16 at 1pm at Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, VA. The mass will be live streamed on the Nativity Church YouTube channel (@NativityParishBurke) and available for future viewing.

 A celebration of life reception will immediately follow.
