Anthony Vincent “Tony” Mongerio, 79, passed away on January 6, 2026. Born on December 25, 1946 in Ozone Park, New York to Anthony and Mary Mongerio, he was a loving and devoted husband to Kathy and a caring father to Toni-Marie, Jessica, and Dean.

Tony was raised in Vineland, New Jersey, where he grew up playing two favorite things: music with his father, and baseball on his Little League team (undefeated for 30 years). He built RC cars and airplanes, dune buggies, and anything else that would race. He also enjoyed running stock car races and riding motorcycles, which he continued to do into his 70s. Tony and his daughter Toni-Marie shared good times at the Atlantic City racetrack at Pleasantville every Saturday night and their paper route every Sunday morning. In New Jersey, he became a glass blower by trade and musician by night until he relocated to Ocala to care for his beloved parents in 1983.

Tony met Kathy through an ad in the paper for a job playing bass in her country band, Goldrush. Tony and Kathy were married on June 23, 1984 after Kathy’s enthusiastic proposal. A year later they created their musical duo known as the Sounds of Time. They performed together for more than 35 years, singing for many weddings and events, and as some of the earliest regular entertainment in The Villages.

Tony became an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1984, and he faithfully served alongside his loving wife in their ministry together. He was fun-loving and delighted in challenging his children with games (that his son Dean always won) at family events. In addition to sharing his love of music with his daughter Jessica, his hobbies and adventures included woodworking, parasailing, and dreaming of hot-air balloon rides.

Tony was predeceased by his father, Anthony Mongerio, and his mother, Mary Arena Mongerio. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Kathy Mongerio of Ocala; his daughter, Toni-Marie Mongerio Smith, of Cedarville, New Jersey; his daughter, Jessica Mongerio, of Ocala; his son, Dean Mongerio, of Beijing, China; and his sister, Joyce Willermet, of Livonia, Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 861 Marion Oaks Manor, Ocala, FL 34473 on Sunday, January 11 at 7pm.
