Allen Eugene Russell, born January 9, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas to parents Bonnie & Lloyd Russell, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. A devoted father, grandfather, veteran, and lifelong servant to his community, Allen lived a life marked by resilience, curiosity, and quiet generosity.

Allen grew up in Denver, Colorado alongside his two sisters, Deborah (Debbie) and Janice (Jannie). After graduating high school, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy in 1962. During his four years of service, he was stationed in both Hawaii and Vietnam, which gave him invaluable experiences that shaped his worldview and deepened his appreciation for people and cultures across the globe.

Following his military service, Allen returned to Vietnam as a civilian contractor and traveled all over Europe, installing telecommunications equipment during a time of rapid technological change. His career later took him to Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in California, where he contributed to the early era of modern computing and communications and was even part of the historic Voyager One launch. He then moved to Chicago to work as a help desk computer technician for the Social Security Administration, continuing his lifelong commitment to public service.

In 1986, Allen relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, where he married Phuong Anh (Ann). Together they welcomed three sons—Charlie (1987), Jeremie (1989), and Eugene (1992)—who remained the center of his world. The family built cherished memories throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, spending summers at Panama City Beach, visiting relatives in Colorado, and always stopping in Wichita, Kansas to see other dear relatives Judy and Mike Leighty.

Allen retired in 2004 and moved to Lakewood, Colorado in 2006. That same year, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Ann. In the years that followed, Allen poured his time and energy into service—volunteering with his church, delivering meals for hospice through Meals on Wheels, and offering help wherever it was needed. His kindness was steady, quiet, and unwavering.

His later years took him between Colorado and Florida, including time in Panama City Beach, Wheat Ridge, and eventually Titusville, where he moved in 2020 to be closer to his son Charlie. In 2022 he transitioned to assisted living at Sonata at Viera in Melbourne, and later to Zon’s at Beachside where he spent his final chapter.

Allen found peace in simple joys—especially the beach. He loved feeling the ocean breeze, watching the waves, and taking in the calm that only the shoreline could offer. He spoke fondly about the beaches in Panama City Beach, FL and how exceptionally soft they were—like sugar, as he always described it. The beaches there were and will always be his favorite up until his final moments.

Allen is survived by his three sons—Charlie, Jeremie, and Eugene—and his five grandchildren: Adalynne, Eizaiah, Elijah, Marty, and Naomi. He leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, and love that will continue through them.

His family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Ann and his parents, Bonnie and Lloyd, and that his journey—full of movement, purpose, and heart—is now at rest.

Visitation will be held at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Drive, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 am.
