Charles Gregg, Jr (1934-2026)

 

Charles “Leo: Gregg, Jr, of  NY State Route 11A, Cardiff, NY passed away at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY on January 6, 2026 at the age of 92 years. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Charles Martin and Rose Bell (Maxson) Gregg, Sr.; wife of 60 years, Vielda Belle (Tinker) Gregg; two sisters, Lucy A. (Gregg) Lewis Ufford and Barbara B. (Gregg) Stubbe; and Ira R. Gregg, Otis M. Gregg, and George F. Maxson, Sr.

 

Charles is a native of Truxton (B: 01/01/1934). He had a home in Preble (1958-1979) and since 1980 in Cardiff, NY. He was a veteran of  US Army, (1953) Pvt. 406th Engineer Brigade 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC.

 

1950s-1960s worked part-time for extra income at Exon & Mobile gas stations in Homer and Cortland. He was former employee at Durkee Bakery (Homer), Carrier Corp. (Syracuse) . Brockway Motor (Cortland) in 1977 Employed by UTC-Carrier Corp., Syracuse, NY  (Retired 1999). He was a member: Sheet Metal Workers' International Association - Local Union# 527.

 

He loved family gatherings, Country Music, Train excursions, Brockway Trucks parades and enjoyed a good game of dominos.

 

Survived by two daughters, Annette R. Moffitt (Syracuse), Rebecca G. Gregg (Cardiff); two step children: Beth A. Austin (Syracuse) and Benjamin L. Tinker (Homer); One brother, Stewart Gregg, two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; also survived by 6 step grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

 

A memorial service is being planned late spring of 2026.
