Dorinda Jane (Dolloff) Degnan, 84, of Satellite Beach, Florida, passed away on December 18, 2025. Dorinda was born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 23, 1941, to the late Vincent and Kathleen (Mosher) Dolloff. She grew up in East Providence, RI and lived there until 2007.
Dorinda touched countless people’s lives with her love of family, friends, and teaching. Dorinda lived her life with love and made an example of how to be selfless. She loved her family and was always there when needed, even if it meant driving her yellow car up the coast, 1,000 miles each way. She will be remembered for her kind heart and love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorinda married the late Theodore M. Seymour in 1961; they had four children, Theodore, Thomas, Deborah, and Timothy. After their divorce, Dorinda worked up to three jobs simultaneously to support her family. Ahead of her time and while she was busy raising her family, Dorinda successfully earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. Dorinda achieved her professional goals and became an esteemed Home Economics/Health teacher at North Attleboro Middle School, where she worked for 30 years. Dorinda’s main focus always remained on her children, ensuring her sons were at hockey practice and her daughter was at dance school.
Dorinda later married the late, James P. Degnan in 1981; they had a daughter, Dorinda. Her love for her family continued where she ensured her daughter was enrolled in many activities, including softball. Dorinda always put family first, ensuring her children always had everything that they needed.
In addition to her love for family and education, Dorinda had a love for arts and crafts; she became an accomplished seamstress and also had a love for ceramics. Through the years, Dorinda made clothes and family heirlooms for her children, and through her love of teaching, she also taught others how to sew.
Dorinda is survived by five children, Theodore (Sarah), Thomas (Sherry), Deborah, Timothy, and Dorinda (Joel), fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
Dorinda’s life will be honored at 11:00 on February 20, 2026, at Haven United Methodist Church, East Providence, Rhode Island, where her family and friends will be in attendance.
