Gary Lloyd Coffenberry, 77, of Sutter Creek, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Sutter Amador Hospital in Jackson after a long illness.

He was born on March 16, 1948, in Weaverville, CA to parents Lloyd and Helen (Rasica) Coffenberry. In 1953, his family moved to Amador County, making their home in Jackson. Gary graduated from Jackson High School in 1966. He went into the automotive field and worked for Spinetti's Bike Shop in Jackson before running Cap’s Garage in Sutter Creek with longtime friend Steve Von Loehr. He later worked for both Prospect Motors and Amador Motors in multiple positions. After he retired, he stayed busy resuming his automotive business for several years. His family is very grateful for his mechanical genius, which kept our vehicles and other mechanical motors running throughout the years.

Gary loved his motorcycles, camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved spending time at Bodega Bay, Plasse's Resort, and boating on Silver Lake. He dearly loved and was so proud of his 3 daughters, Amy, Nicole, and Susan.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Helen, and his sister Paula Byrd. He is survived, and will be greatly missed by: his wife of 54 years, Nina (Capetanich) Coffenberry; his three daughters, Amy (Rick) Roussan, Nicole (Michelle) Coffenberry, and Susan Coffenberry; his 5 grandchildren, Dennis and Maxwell Roussan, Declan and Logan Coffenberry, and Evelyn Ninnis; his siblings, Bob (Karen) Metke, Carol (Peter) Pesetti, and Linda (Mike) Lewis; his brother-in-law Bill Byrd; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 12pm-4pm at the Native Sons Hall, 56 Main Street, Sutter Creek.
