Dana Lee Heffington, born in Sacramento and raised in Amador County, passed away on January 3, 2026. He spent his life rooted in the community he loved, where he built a reputation as a hardworking man, devoted father, and outdoorsman.
Dana enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and working on cars, simple things that brought him peace and joy. Some of his favorite memories were spent dragging his son, Garrett, and stepson, Zach, along on fishing and hunting trips, sharing his love for the outdoors, and creating lasting memories that they will never forget.
Dana began his working life at Amador Produce before spending 23 years at the Georgia-Pacific Mill in Jackson, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He later spent 12 years driving semi-trucks, hauling heavy equipment, a job that reflected his skill, responsibility, and pride in hard work.
Dana passed away just three days before the birth of his grandson, Benjamin Lee Heffington, who was born on January 6, 2026. Though they never met, his legacy lives on through the family he loved and the life lessons he passed down.
Dana Heffington will be remembered for his loyalty, his love for family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Carol Heffington of Jackson, CA; sons, Garrett Heffington of Pine Grove, CA and Zach Leslie of Mokelumne Hill, CA; grandson, Benjamin Lee Heffington; brother, Lester Heffington Jr.; sisters, Sandi Willey, Cindy Rhoades, and Kay Heffington. And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma Elaine, and Lester William Heffington
Services will take place at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson, CA, on January 22, 2026, at 10:00 am, with a graveside service to follow at the Jackson City Cemetery.
