Gerald Lewis Ray (Jerry), 86, of Ocklawaha, Florida, was called home by our Lord on December 2, 2025, passing peacefully at the Hospice House in Summerfield, Florida, with his family by his side.

Born August 13, 1939, in Greenbelt, Maryland, Jerry proudly served in the United States Air Force (1957–1962). He married his beloved wife, Joni Ray, on January 30, 1972. Jerry was a hardworking entrepreneur involved in real estate and restaurant ownership, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, personal projects, evening golf cart rides with his wife, and watching sunsets and wildlife from his favorite chair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Ray and Ruby L. Ray; his sister, Lera Bowen; and his brothers, Charles Ray and James Ray.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joni Ray; his daughters, Maria Ray of Ocklawaha, FL, and Angie Stokes (Lewis) of Ocala, FL; his grandchildren, Brianna Ray and Nikolas Ray; and his sister, Christine Bradford of Queenstown, MD.

He was deeply loved by family, friends, and all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to AdventHealth and Hospice of Marion County for their compassionate care.

A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, January 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 5946 SE Robinson Rd, Belleview, FL 34420.
