In Loving Memory of Louis “Louie” Henry Guyot

December 23, 1944 – January 10, 2026

Louis “Louie” Henry Guyot was born in Evansville, Indiana, on December 23, 1944, and took a walk with Jesus, passing peacefully at home on January 10, 2026, in Englewood, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Louis August Guyot; his sisters, Garnetta Waters and Margie York; and his son, Louis “Bub” Dudley Guyot.

Louie is survived by the love of his life, Barbara—his adored wife of 33 years (“Sweet Thang”). He had 19 half‑siblings and is survived by his sister, Evalina J. Gless (Richard) of Le Claire, Iowa; by his children, Tiffany Guyot White (daughter with former spouse Linda) of Evansville, Indiana; Laura Espejo (Antonio) of Omaha, Nebraska; and Jeff Riemenschneider of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Lyndsey Gray, Chase O’Leary, River Guyot (Natasha), Louis C. Guyot (Kenzie), Kaden Haner (Merina), Preston Guyot, Brantley Guyot, Jarrett Riemenschneider, Gavin Riemenschneider, Oscar Espejo, and Emmy Espejo; nine great‑grandchildren; and many friends who became family.

Louie graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in Evansville, Indiana, in 1963. He proudly served six years in the Indiana National Guard and worked at Whirlpool in Evansville. A born entrepreneur with a gift for “wheeling and dealing,” he went on to own and operate Green Street Bait & Tackle; Guaranteed Radiator—home of the slogan “Best Place to Take a Leak”; and Green Street Pawn, all in Henderson, Kentucky.

On April 18, 1992, Louie married Barbara at their farm in Hebbardsville, Kentucky. He loved fishing and hunting, classic cars, singing and boogie‑ing, swap meets, garage sales, antiques, moonshine, homemade wine, and his dogs, Cassie, Lucy, and Connie Sue - along with many other beloved pups through the years. Once you met him, you were a friend. He delighted in barbecuing, smoking meat and fish fries, often hosting crowds of 200 at their Kentucky farm. More than anything, Louie loved making people laugh and feel special. He gave everyone a nickname and had a saying ready for every moment:

“Barely makin’ it.”
“Let’s boogie.”
“I’m working—you should try it.”
“Stand up when you are talking to me.”
“Here, fishy, fishy, in the brook—why don’t you come jump on my hook.”
“If you’re waiting on me, you’re backing up.”
“Get up. You’re burnin’ daylight.”
“Get up, get down, get back up again.”

Per Louie’s wishes, there will be no public service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Habitat for Humanity 280 Alligator Drive, Venice, Florida 34293.

Louie lived big, laughed loud, and loved well. His legacy is the joy he spread, the hands he helped, and the family and friends he cherished. He will be deeply missed  and forever remembered.
