Sharon Elizabeth Grace, better known as “Sherrie” and best known as “GiGi” passed away unexpectedly in St. Petersburg, FL at the age of 67 on December 18th, 2025.
Sherrie was born on July 30th, 1958 in Gatesville, Texas and moved to the St. Pete area in grade school. A graduate of Seminole High School, class of 1976, Sherrie met Joe in her teens and, like many love stories, the rest is history. The two were married at St. John’s Church in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida on April 21st, 1979 and had a love story that lasted a half of a century.
Remembered for her warmth and welcoming presence, Sherrie’s hospitality extended to everyone. When her boys were young, she was a “mom to the neighborhood” where JP and Dylan’s many friends loved spending time in her home, staying up (perhaps too late) watching movies and playing video games. When they were older, she greatly enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students in her home and had a passion for leading women’s Bible studies (STL) at Bible Study Fellowship.
Always taking great pride in maintaining her garden and beautifying her home, Sherrie was also a fantastic cook, with countless recipes on hand for any occasion including her Happy Cake dessert she made with her beloved grandchildren. A master seamstress as well as an accomplished painter in watercolors, Sherrie was also a recognized employee of Redken Laboratories as well as First Union Bank.
In addition to her family, Sherrie was passionate about caring for her chihuahuas, BellaJoy and JoJo. Sherrie was a doting dog mom and advocate for dog rescue. There was always room for one more chihuahua in Sherrie’s mind.
Over the last decade and a half, Sherrie’s clear favorite activity was babysitting and otherwise spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as their “GiGi.”
Sherrie is survived by her husband, Joe Grace, her two sons, JP (Cristina) and Dylan (Chevas), her six beloved grandchildren: Liam, Felicity, Jazzlyn, Rex, Callahan, and Calista and her brother Jack Langford, her mother B.G. and stepfather Roy Diehl. She is preceded in death by her sister, Nanetta Skinner.
All are welcome to join the family at her celebration of life at 4:30pm on January 21st, at the Bon-Aire Resort (4350 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach) for Sherrie is gone from this world, but will always remain in our hearts. One who was once deeply loved, can never be truly lost.
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”
