Rita Sue Wisma McLaughlin, 77, of Tampa, Fla., passed away on January 4, 2026.

Rita was born on Friday, October 13, 1948, in Kankakee, Ill., the daughter of Robert Eugene Wisma and Betty Jean (Boys) Wisma. Being born on a Friday the 13th, she enjoyed when her birthdays once again fell on a Friday, as it did on her 13th birthday. Rita graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Ind., in 1966.

Rita worked in retail, and then the mortgage industry.

She most loved being Gramma Rita to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mike Wisma; and her grandson, Jeffrey Wallace.

She is loved and remembered by those she leaves behind, including her daughter Michelle (Dave) Wasmund and son Scott (Celeste) McLaughlin; grandchildren Jeremy (Marisa) Wasmund and Justin (Sylvia) Wasmund, Holli Galloway, Jacob, Jenna, Ryan and Rylie McLaughlin, and granddaughter-in-law Dawn Wallace; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Evan and Analisa Wallace, Gwen Galloway, Ty, Jovi, and Jax Wasmund, and Maddox Wasmund; brothers Ed (Jacki) Wisma and Steve Wisma; and many extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
