JohnMichael Moccaldi passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026. “John Mike” was born in West Islip, NY on August 28, 1972, to Marie Moccaldi and the late John Moccaldi. John Mike is survived by his sister and “2nd mother”, Melissa Walker; his "best" and only nephew, Kyle Walker; brother-in-law, Michael Walker; Godmother and "crazy Aunt Jul”, Julie Bianco; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a great "pet dad" to the late Dumas, and now Betty White, Spike Lee, Gus, and Deedles.
He moved to Lexington in 1986 to start 9th grade and met Shane Corder, Billy Thompson, Troy Blume, shortly after Neil Knitz, and Larry Lacy, whom he referred to as "brothers" and with whom remained great friends with for 40 years.
He graduated from Lexington High School in 1990 and went back to NY for three years to help his dad with the family business. In 1994, he started John's Artistic Iron Works with his dad, where they manufactured and installed wrought iron railings for over 35 years in Lexington and the surrounding areas.
He loved racing and has too many friends to list. Most of all he loved going on cruises. He just met his "Diamond Status", which was his all-time goal, and was supposed to leave for a cruise in two weeks. He will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in memory of his cousin Aurora Schmitt to Happy Wheels PO Box 406 Lexington, SC 29071, or the Diabetes Foundation.
Visitations will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 2PM - 4PM and 6PM – 8PM. A funeral service will be held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11AM, with burial to follow at Woodridge Memorial Park.
