Clarence H. “Big Mike” Mykel, 89, of 106 Forest St., Gloversville, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Born May 30, 1936, in the Town of Minden, he was the son of the late Stephen Mykel and Claribel E. Earing.

For many years, Clarence owned and operated Mykel’s Home Care. He was a proud 56-year member of Laborers’ Local 157 of Schenectady. He was member of the Gloversville Moose Club and also a life member of the Concordia Club.

Clarence honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was married to the former Helen Silber, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage on December 27, 2025.

He was a man who never hesitated to lend a hand, always ready to help anyone in need. Known for his love of scrapping metal and his famous Garage Sales.  He was a fun-loving man with a playful spirit, known for finding joy in jokes that were always meant to make others laugh. His humor brought light to everyday moments and smiles to everyone who knew him. He loved being outdoors whether it be working, hunting or camping with friends and family. He always enjoyed a good game of poker, where laughter, stories, and camaraderie mattered just as much as the cards. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving family and friends.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal services.

It was his wish that any charitable donations be made to local food banks or pantries.
