Shirley Jean Doub Sidden, 76, passed away on the morning of December 14, 2025, in Statesville, North Carolina. Born on June 13, 1949, Shirley was a graduate of Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, Class of 1967. Shirley built a successful career as a realtor and also managed shopping centers, including Parkway Plaza. Her dedication to her work and community left a lasting impression on those she worked with over the years. She faced the last five years of her life with remarkable strength after contracting Legionnaires’ Disease in August 2020. Despite enduring serious complications, she remained resilient and courageous through every challenge. Shirley was deeply loved by her daughter, Renae Steele, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. They were not only mother and daughter but also best friends who spentcountless cherished moments together—riding in the Jeep, attending events, visiting thrift stores, and enjoying quiet evenings watching favorite TV shows. Shirley also found joy in the companionship of her beloved cat, Roxy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Talmage and Flossie Doub. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gordon’s Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd, Statesville, NC 28625. May Shirley’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
