Thomas Edward Maloy passed away on January 10, 2026, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on May 22, 1941, in San Diego, California, to Grant and Trudy Maloy.

Thomas married Marilyn Miller on September 15, 1967,

in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. A lifelong member of the Church, Thomas served in many capacities throughout his life, including a dedicated calling as an Emergency Preparedness Specialist.

His legacy of service began in the National Guard during the Watts Riots in 1965. His career in the fire service started in Manila, Utah, where he served from 1970 until moving his family to Tucson in 1983. During his time in Utah, he served as the fire chief of a local volunteer department.

In Arizona, Thomas became a pillar of the first responder community. He began his service in the state as an Arizona Ranger. In 1997, he joined the Rural Metro Wildland Division, and in 2001, he notably became the oldest cadet to graduate from the Avra Valley Fire Structure Academy. Thomas shared his vast knowledge by teaching classes for Pima County JTED and the Arizona State Fire Marshal, and by providing wildland and fire safety training for various departments across the state.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his four children, Eric Thomas Maloy, Kimberly (Justin) Henry, Cliff Maloy (Patricia Kelly), and Annette Maloy; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings, Nancy Miller and Phillip (Brenda) Maloy.
