Michael Dean King, age 71, passed away on January 11, 2026.
Michael was born on April 3, 1954, in Anderson, South Carolina, to Cornelius “Bub” King and Mary Elizabeth McIntyre. In May 1975, he proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served for more than 20 years. Much of Mike’s Air Force career was spent overseas, where he met his beautiful wife, Carol Elaine Denham of Thatcham, England. They were married on March 11, 1978.
Together, Mike and Carol welcomed three beautiful children: Mark, Carrie, and Theresa. Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandfather. His life was defined by his service to his country and his deep, unwavering love for his family.
Mike is survived by his three children: Mark (Nikki) King, Carrie King, and Theresa (Nick) Sherman; his five beloved granddaughters: Laura King, Megan Singleton (Malik), Madison King, Winter and Lily Sherman; and his four great-grandchildren: Ronin, Malaya, Lynnox, and Faolan. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry (Sondra) King and William (Pat) King; his sister, Sue (Rudy) Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his beautiful, loving wife, Carol Elaine King; his parents, Cornelius “Bub” King and Mary Elizabeth McIntyre; and his brothers, Kenneth King and Johnny King.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the laughter and joy he shared with all who knew him. His legacy of family, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
A service honoring Michael’s life will be held on February 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, located at 281 Treeland Drive, Ladson, SC 29456. The service will include full military honors in recognition of his dedicated service to the United States Air Force.
