Paul Roellig, a proud United States Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina on January 10, 2026. 

Paul was born and raised in Ohio, where he spent his early years before answering the call to serve his country. His time in the Navy during the Vietnam War was marked by courage, sacrifice, and a deep sense of duty. Beyond his military service, Paul was known for his generous heart, quiet strength, and unwavering commitment to family. His life was defined by selflessness and love, and his impact reached far beyond what words can fully express.

Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Esther Roellig; his parents, Howard Lewis Roellig and Marian Kramer Roellig; his sister, Joyce Roellig; and his youngest sister, Terry Roellig.

He is survived by his siblings Lawrence “Larry” Roellig, William Roellig, James B. Roellig, and Mary Lynn Vanoli. He also leaves behind his children and grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life: Angela (Junior) Barlage and their children Greg, Matthew (Candace), Alex, Amber (Derrick), Justyn, and great-grandson Matthew; Paul W. Roellig and his son Ethan; and Jennifer Bolt and her children David (Amber), Christopher, Dylan, Ben, Xavier, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Jordyn.

Paul’s legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape, the lives he touched, and the example he set through service, sacrifice, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In honor of his faithful service to our nation, Paul will receive full military honors. Fair winds and following seas.
