Sharon Sue DeLong (Mize), age 78, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, wrapped in love and held in the arms of her daughter and granddaughter. She was born on March 16, 1947, in Centralia, Missouri.

Sharon spent her final years in Palm Bay, Florida, where she lived with her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and great-grandson, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Callie Mize; her siblings Darline, Jimmy, Ruth, Glen, Catheryn, and Ronnie; her former spouse Philip DeLong; and her beloved daughter Donna.

She is survived by her loving daughter Sherry Jurney (Mike); her sister Debby Shirley (Jim); seven grandchildren: Mia Jurney (Matt), Philip Jurney (Lindsey), Eric Carabajal (Tiana), Robert Mason (Natasha), Michael Jurney (Heather), Brandon, and Audrianna Carabajal; and Fifteen great-grandchildren: Zeke, Exzavier, Michael Jr., Kloie, Nikolai, Neveah, Elynor, Elyzabeth, Aaliyah, Soren, Korbin, Gabriel Jr., Kathryn, Gabriel, and Melissa, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Sharon managed apartment complexes for much of her life and was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. Her faith was central to who she was. She deeply loved her church family at Christ United Methodist Church and devoted countless volunteer hours serving others—whether greeting people at the door, helping with the food pantry, or quietly stepping in wherever she was needed.

Sharon never sat still. She found joy in life’s simple, meaningful moments: walking the beach with her daughter, playing Scrabble with her granddaughter, spending time with her great-grandson, and talking with her grandchildren on the phone nearly every day. She had a gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a sense of humor that stayed with her all the way to her final days. If Sharon cared about you, you never had to wonder—you felt it.

She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.
