Tami Staton Sparks, 64, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away on January 14th, 2026, at St. Joe Hospital. She was born in Lexington, Ky on September 13, 1961 to the late Morgan and Etta Canter Staton. Leaving behind a legacy of beauty, laughter, and a family she adored.
Tami is survived by her sons, Wesley (Stephanie) Sparks, Clayton (Rachael) Sparks. One beloved grandchild, Paxton Sparks. Her five siblings James (Betty) Staton, Fran (Mike) Breiner, Janice (Mike) Durham Humfleet, David (Joann) Staton and Teresa (David) Grose.
A longtime and dedicated employee of UK Hospital, retiring after 30+ years of service, where her hard work and presence were a staple of her department. While her career was at UK, her true passion was found in the world of color and design.
Tami had a rare “spark” for decorating. She possessed a unique ability to walk into any room and make it beautiful. Whether it was her home or a special event, Tami was the master of floral arrangements, turning simple blooms into works of art. Her family will always remember her keen eye for detail and the way she could make any space feel like home.
Above all her talents, Tami’s greatest achievements were her two sons, Wesley and Clay Sparks. She was immensely proud of the men they have become and never missed an opportunity to share their accomplishments with others. Her joy only grew with the addition of her grandson, Paxton, who held a very special place in her heart. Her grandson was her world.
A woman of deep faith, Tami was a longtime, devoted member of Bethel Christian Church. She took great joy in her church community and loved using her creative talents to serve the Lord and her church family.
A service to celebrate Tami’s life and the beauty she brought to this world will be held this Friday, January 23rd at Bethel Christian Church (1991 Phillips Rd, Nicholasville, KY 40356) with Brother Bill Bales officiating. Family and friends to gather at 2:00pm with services to follow.
Because of Tami’s lifelong love for flowers and her talent for creating beautiful arrangements, floral tributes are deeply appreciated. They may be sent directly to Bethel Christian Church in time for Friday’s service.
