Robert “Bob” Ames Muehlberg, age 88, passed away on December 30, 2025. Born on February 19, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, Bob was the son of Wallace Muehlberg and Elizabeth (Thoreson) Muehlberg.
Bob was truly a jack of all trades—resourceful, hardworking, and always willing to step in where he was needed. Over the years, he applied those qualities in many ways, including service as a Deputy Sheriff, a role that reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to community.
A defining part of Bob’s life was his unwavering dedication to Freemasonry. He was a proud Mason for 68 years and most recently held membership with the Grand Lodge of Arizona, Free and Accepted Masons. His long-standing involvement spoke to his loyalty, integrity, and belief in fellowship and service—values he carried throughout his life.
Bob was preceded in death by his spouses, Radelle Muehlberg, Gale Muehlberg, and Therese Green, as well as his parents, Wallace Muehlberg and Elizabeth (TM) Anderson.
He leaves behind a loving family who will continue his legacy: his sons, David Muehlberg and his wife Denise of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Michael Muehlberg and his wife Tina of Hibbing, Minnesota. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Smith of Hibbing, Minnesota; Megan Schmidt and her husband Tim of St. Michael, Minnesota; Justin Smith of Chisholm, Minnesota; and Brandon Muehlberg and his wife Autumn of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Bob was a proud great-grandfather to Elaina Mae Robertson, Keagan Tiedeman, Roselynn Schmidt, Logan Schmidt, Elliot Muehlberg, Elijah Muehlberg, and Ean Muehlberg.
In addition, Bob is survived by several in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends who were fortunate to know him.
Bob will be remembered for his steady presence, practical wisdom, and the quiet confidence of someone who had seen a lot of life—and handled it with grace. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family who carries his name forward.
