Michael Wayne Boyer, 56, was born on July 14, 1969, in Dallas, TX, and passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2025. He was the beloved son of Frank and Janice Boyer of Grundy, VA.

Growing up in Grundy, Michael developed a strong sense of community and adventure. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy, where he became an accomplished signalman

and proudly served his country. His dedication was recognized with several awards, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Stars, and the National Defense Service Medal.

After serving honorably in the Navy, Michael pursued his passion for art by attending the Art Institute of Atlanta, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. He brought creativity and enthusiasm to everything he did, both professionally and personally.

Michael was preceded in death by his twin brother, Matson Boyer, and his brother, Mark Boyer. He is survived by his loving parents; his devoted wife of many years,

Rebecca Sexton Boyer; his sister, Mailani Boyer (Russ); and his brother, Frank 'Buddy' Boyer (Michelle). He also leaves behind his cherished children, Lyndsay Hayes, Maddison Boyer, Olivia Cloyd,

Hali Cloyd, and Trey Cloyd, as well as his beloved grandson, Kingston Cloyd.

Friends recall Michael’s infectious laughter and his unwavering support for loved ones. He never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest, embracing every moment with warmth and kindness.

Michael’s love for music, attending concerts, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and relaxing on the beach with his furry companion, Bella, were among the many things that brought him joy and defined his vibrant spirit.

Simplicity Funeral Home of Summerville, SC, handled his cremation. A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date.
