Toby Herrera, Age 79, born on October 27, 1946 passed away on December 26, 2025.  He was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM to a family with 9 siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents Bernardo and Isabele Herrera, along with two brothers; Bernardo Jr. and Andy. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He had a distinguished career.

He is survived by his 3 children, Che, Kristina and husband; Jared, Geoffrey and wife; Beverly. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, many siblings, nieces and nephews. 

He will be missed most by his brother Michael and sister Viola who he enjoyed countless hours laughing, joking and talking to.

He enjoyed fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. Along with many of his siblings, he gained his dancing bug from his late father. He had a love for home cooked food, especially New Mexican cuisine. Toby was an avid reader often trading books with his siblings or visiting the local library.

He found peace spending time in the tranquil New Mexico mountains, where he loved to garden. He had a knack for growing pumpkins, green chili, zucchini and tomatoes, that he often shared with friends and loved ones.

Toby, was a lifetime member of the VFW and a former Commander throughout various years. He was an active member of the American Legion Post where he spent time having breakfast and talking to his beloved siblings and friends.

Toby will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 pm, following services at Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque on Wednesday, January 28th at 10:30 am.
