Gilbert W Maggard Jr born March 30th 1960 passed peacefully in his sleep on Jan 9th 2026 after fulfilling his wish to go to Redhawk Casino one last time that afternoon, he battled cancer for over a year. He is survived by his mother Florence Maggard, brother Anthony Maggard, daughters Amber Maggard, & Chelse Angel, grandsons Carter Russell & Cooper Angel, granddaughter Lucyann Dimond, mother of his daughters Sandy Maggard, dog Rocky, and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by father Gilbert Maggard Sr. Gil was born and lived all his life in Placerville and loved walking down Main St where everyone would say “Hi Gil”. Gil graduated from El Dorado high school and attended Consumes River college, worked at Michigan Cal, Conforti Plumbing, Marshall Hospital, and Shingle Springs Tribal Health. Gil was a Christian and member of the El Dorado Community Church where he was baptized and married. Gil was proud of his Native American heritage and a member of the El Dorado Band of Miwok. Gil was an honest, hardworking, generous, helpful and an all around good man that would do anything for his family and friends. He loved his cars, enjoyed music, dancing, rock collecting, gold panning, and gambling. He will be missed by all. Graveside services will be held at the El Dorado Cemetery Jan 24th at 1:00pm immediately followed by a celebration of life at the El Dorado Community Church Hall.
