Obituary: Rhonda Lou Vigil, February 12, 1950-January 21, 2026
Rhonda Lou Vigil passed away peacefully at home in Albuquerque, NM, on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2026.
Rhonda Lou Adams was born February 12, 1950, in Albuquerque, NM. Many of her family’s stories and her childhood memories were in the home where she was born.
Rhonda was the youngest of five daughters born to Aline Adams, and the only daughter of Isaac Adams.
Rhonda met her husband, Robert L. Vigil, at Del Norte High School when they were both 15 years old. They were married on June 1, 1968. They had a son, Robert, in 1969. Robert was born in Albuquerque. They relocated in 1974 to Los Alamos, NM. They had a daughter, Jennifer, in 1977. In 2024, she and her husband returned to live at her childhood home in Albuquerque. Robert and Rhonda were married for 57 and a half years before she passed away.
Rhonda was a beloved aunt to several of her nieces and nephews. She always had a special way with children. She became a Montessori teacher in 1990 and taught at Canyon Cito Montessori School for many years. Later she helped to startup up other childcare centers. She always had a heart for children and animals, which were a large part of her passion in life.
Rhonda enjoyed being a mother and grandmother. She has four grandchildren and loved each and every one of them in her own special way to encourage them in life. She also had a strong relationship with God and never lost her faith despite any setback. She had the best sense of humor and that remained with her until the end. Humor and her faith in God were always the best way to deal with the difficulties in life.
Rhonda is survived by her sister, Sharon L. Brick, as well as her husband, Robert L. Vigil, and her two children, Robert I. Vigil (Andie M. Dimick), Jennifer R. Vigil (Brant M. Wagener), and four grandchildren, Jordan A. Jaramillo, Chloe L. Wagener, James W. Wagener, and Nathaniel R. Wagener.
The services will be held in the chapel at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque, NM, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with a viewing from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m., with the funeral at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The interment will be at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM.
