Raynaldo (Ray) Padilla was born on October 18, 1941, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the son of Frank A. Padilla (d. 1991) and Candy Padilla (d. 2015). He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia (d. 1965) and is survived by his sisters Theresa Padilla and Louisa Gallegos. Ray welcomed his first son, Edward D Padilla, before proudly serving his country as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. After his service overseas, he settled in Kodiak, Alaska, with Dolores Padilla-Kairaiuak (d. 2025), where their family grew to include Mary Padilla, Thomas Padilla, Rocky Padilla, and Kehle Middleton. Ray became a police officer and was formally commended by President Richard Nixon for saving the life of a young man who would have drowned had he not been present. His journey later brought him to Seattle, Washington, where he shared his life with Laura Padilla and lovingly raised her children, Teresa, Robin, Tori, and John, as his own. He later welcomed his youngest daughter, Virginia (Gina) Padilla, raising her with the same unwavering love. Ray eventually met and married Lori Maggianetti (“Maggs”) and embraced her children, Ray and Tracey. Together, Ray and Lori walked side by side through life’s joys and challenges, honoring their commitment to one another with loyalty and love. After a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer resulting from Agent Orange exposure, Ray passed on January 11, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who carry forward his name, his stories, and his values. He now joins the ancestors who came before him, taking his place in a family lineage rooted in love, resilience, compassion, and acceptance. A celebration for Ray’s life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 805 on Jan 24th, 2026, from 12-2 pm. Funeral services will be held in Albuquerque, NM, Saint Anne Catholic Church on Feb 19th with Rosary at 9:00am followed by mass. Interment will be at SantaFe National Cemetery on Feb 20th at 2:30 pm with Marine honors.
