Donald James O’Malley, 77, St. Petersburg, FL Passed away on January 19, 2026, in his home surrounded by love.
Donnie was born on September 3,1948 in Clinton, MA to Donald J O’Malley Sr. and Kay (O’Connor) O’Malley.
He attended Clinton schools and Worcester Trade School where he learned carpentry. He was an altar boy at St. John’s church in Clinton, MA. As the eldest child he would always keep a watchful eye over his siblings.
Donnie joined the Air Force in 1967, his favorite job was delivering babies at Moody Airforce Base in Valdosta, GA before he was deployed to Vietnam for which he proudly served our country as a medic. He was a talented carpenter by trade and worked as a plaster as well. Donnie loved to fish, listen to the blues, the company of his family and friends. He was a man of few words. He was kind and gentle. He loved carrot cake and his wife’s home cooking. He was a proud Irishmen and loved his trips to Ireland. He was an animal lover, having had several dogs and cats throughout his lifetime. Donnie was a true fan of the game of football; he rooted for the Patriots and the Buccaneers.
Donnie is survived by the love of his life and devoted wife Pamela O’Malley. Sisters Nora LaMarca and husband Dominic, Kathy Conture and husband Ron, Jackie Wade and Husband Clinton and Susan Lynch and partner Tim. He leaves Aunts, Uncles, God children Katelyn Lear and Ian Keane, many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded by his Mom and Dad, and dear brother Joey Horsley. Also preceded by his close friends Ray and Larry, whom we are sure are already together having a ball.
A funeral will be held on Jan. 29, 2026, 10:30am at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home. Located at: 2201 Doctor Martin Luther King Junior Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. A procession to follow to Sarasota National Cemetery for committal at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to disabled Veterans.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Suncoast Hospice team and Medical Team at Bay Pines VA Hospital for all their kind and tender care.
