,Jamie Ryan Mullis, 53, of Ocala, Florida passed away unexpectedly on January 16th, 2026. He was born on November 9th, 1972, in Ocala, Florida and was the cherished and beloved son of Gene and Connie Mullis.   

 

Jamie graduated from Forest High School and joined the Army. He later returned to Ocala, graduating from the College of Central Florida with a nursing degree. He worked at Shands Hospital and the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida and later retired. 

 

He was a gift from God to his parents, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, caring, loving others, and sharing his love for Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. “He will be remembered for his charitable generosity to strangers, the depths of creativity of his artists' mind, and his yearning to ease the suffering in the world around him”.    

He is survived by his parents; Gene and Connie Mullis, niece; Olivia Schnell, aunts and uncles; Linda and Steve Dean, Susie and Dennis Strow, Wendy and Charles Pratt, cousins; John, Jena, Samantha and Bryant Rayden Dean, Josh Dean and Kaytlyn Pratt.   

 

He was preceded in death by his sister, Amanda Schnell, maternal grandparents; Bryant and Dottie Wood, paternal grandparents; RT and Lillian Mullis, aunt; Kathy Whisenhunt.   

 

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, Florida.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warriors Family Support, 11218 John Galt Blvd, Suit 103, Omaha, Nebraska 68137.
